The Slingbox 500 was the first to include built-in Wi-Fi.
However, all my attempts to connect to the Slingbox through the WD TV Play Slingplayer app failed with one of the following errors (somewhat randomly): What I get from the app is: Connecting to... Even detects if I'm already connected to the Slingbox in the web player, I'm getting: Takeover Connection: This Slingbox is being used by someone else.
Do you want to disconnect them and take over the connection? Firmware version: 1.05.47 Part number: WDBHZM0000NBK This is quite annoying as I originally bought the WD TV Play especially for the Slingbox connectivity... Thanks for the response Ichigo, that was one of the first things I did check before posting.
The signal feeding into the Slingbox M1 is done via an included component-video cable. The Slingbox M1 is a low-key, VHS-tape-sized black box, and lacks the textured finish and space-Toblerone stylings of previous Slingbox hardware.
I have a WD TV Play that I'm trying to use with a Slingbox 500 remotely without success.
Indeed, an emboldened Fox is already making legal moves to ban the Dish Network’s Hopper DVRs due to their integrated “Sling” functionality, which lets users stream live programs to other devices.
None of this seems to be deterring Echo Star, the sister company of Dish and the owner of Sling Media, though.
The Slingbox was first developed in 2002 by two Californian brothers, Blake and Jason Krikorian, who were avid sports fans.
They supported the San Francisco Giants, a Major League Baseball team, whose games were broadcast regularly by their local TV station.
I leave this one star review sadly, after years of loving them but the past couple of years, have been dreadful. Earlier models had the ability to connect directly to the device via TCP/IP but now this product can not be used without logging into their service which I sadly suspect must be draining cash and therefor) so sad.
thanks for reading The one star reviews are spot freaking on!
You had to connect the 350 to your router via an Ethernet cable, but now you just connect the box to your home Wi-Fi network during setup.
